It’s in our nature to be afraid, however shameful that might feel.
But there’s a huge difference between being afraid and living in fear. That’s why we developed this online course, because the experience of fearfulness cannot only be diminished but repurposed into tremendous forward momentum.
None of us like to admit we’re afraid, but we all know there are moments when we feel worried, anxious, frantic, and scared. Worse still, there are entire seasons where we live in fear. That’s what’s happening to our planet, right now: we live in a state of perpetual and manic fear. Perhaps with good reason. After all, fear is our mind’s way of warning us that danger is present.
Fear is a physiological reaction to the presence of biological harm.
Which means fear isn’t “bad”, but useful. And once we know fear can be of use, we can learn how to use our fear—not only to keep us safe, but to quicken our development and spur our growth. Because that which we fear most indicates that about which we most care. Fear tells us what we love, and how much it would mean if we lost it. Thus, fear orients us in line with our passions albeit facing in the wrong direction. It is our responsibility to do the hard work of turning around. Instead of running from our fear, we will study it. We will understand it. We will use it. And we will learn how to live courageously and victoriously in spite of the ever present threats attacking our peace.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
~ 1 John 4:18
We know we’re not supposed to be afraid, or anxious, or worried…and yet we are. But fear can be our teacher as much as our terror, and we can learn to seize control of our fears with God’s help, changing the fright we feel into fuel for forward momentum. Sound too good to be true? Find out for yourself. We’ll explore proven techniques for directing our thoughts and reframing our experiences, so that the things which once terrified us instead catalyze our dreams.
