There are five total phases to CLRD. This is Phase One - The Building Plan, which covers: mission, vision, values, target market, and polity.
MISSION
The mission of the Church is to make disciples. But you need to define what a disciple is--in your church, in your context--in order to know if your Church is being effective.
VISION
If MISSION is the "what" then VISION is the "how." It is the unique approach of your church to disciple-making and differentiates what you’re offering from what all other churches are offering.
VALUES
Core values are personal ethics or ideals that guide you when making decisions, building relationships and solving problems. Identifying the values that are meaningful to you can help you develop and achieve ministerial effectiveness and great joy.
TARGET
One of the essential strategic questions in leading a ministry involves asking, “Who is God calling us to reach?” The truth is that you cannot reach everyone simultaneously with the same strategy, the same plan, or the same activities. Consequently, we’ve got to acknowledge that God has placed within each of us a particular burden for a particular group of people.
POLITY
Every church is governed by a constitution which determines who has authority. It is essential to understand and to function well within this government, submitting ourselves to one another out of reverence for Christ.
